Model Overview

The Darkside is our most refined, most responsive and most highly tuned performance shortboard, built for surfers who want to push harder, surf faster and feel every movement come back through the board.

Designed for waves from 3–12ft, the Darkside delivers serious speed and drive, but still has all the release and freedom you want through turns, airs and tight transitions in the pocket. It is a board that loves power surfing, but never feels stiff or tracky. There is plenty of flow through the rocker line, giving you the confidence to draw your lines out when the waves are running, or tighten everything up when you are surfing vertically.

The rocker has been developed and refined since the early 2000’s, heavily influenced by the kind of speed, flow and effortless projection seen in Craig Anderson’s surfing. The key is the placement of the curve. By shifting the lowest point of the rocker slightly behind centre, the Darkside carries a flatter, faster section through the stance area, while still having enough curve through the tail to fit in the pocket and release instantly when you push hard.

The rail rocker is balanced and sensitive, giving the board a precise feel underfoot. You can push through a long carving turn, load up off the bottom, or hit the lip hard and still have that feeling of control.

Underneath, the Darkside features a subtle rolled vee entry flowing into a single concave under the front foot, blending into a double concave through the fins and finishing with a slight vee-double out the tail. The result is a board that accelerates fast and transitions rail-to-rail effortlessly.

Laminated in our Polytech construction, the Darkside combines polyester resin with our custom engineered E-Glass layup to create an incredibly lively flex pattern and rapid torsional response. It feels fast, electric and connected in a way that only the best traditional PU boards feel.
