The O.G of the Haydenshapes family, Craig Anderson has been riding for Hayden since his Grom years and from the time he first arrived on the Australian shores of New Castle, at 15, from his native South Africa. As Hayden’s key design muse, Haydenshapes have been lucky enough to see ‘Ando’, now 25, rise into becoming one of the most influential free surfers of today. His effortless “less is more” style is not only timeless, but somewhat of an enigma. Every major surf publication in the world has had multiple covers graced by him in recent years. In 2013, the highly anticipated release of his 30-minute film, Slow Dance – Directed by Dane Reynolds, catapulted his already globally booming profile and firmly established his name as one of a surfing’s legends in the making. With all that said, although you’ll see his name at the top of Surfing’s Media Meter, you’ll find Craig himself hanging humbly in the corner, politely observing and letting it all roll of his shoulders. He’s just that kind of guy. Ando’s favourite boards are The Ando, Hypto Krypto, Merlot and the Psychedelic Germ.
