HAYDENSHAPES CAPTURED BY SIMON UPTON
Like any field or industry, Surf imagery can more often than not have a way of leaving nothing to be unexpected. The swift air manoeuvre, the paddle shot or an idyllic barrel entrance – don’t get us wrong, these are all necessities that we love and couldn’t live without. In saying that, we’ve all felt at times a little hungry for something perhaps less foreseeable in the way of capturing that moment in the surf and surroundings. For a momentary fresh take on our beloved water sport, we invited acclaimed Australian Fashion Photographer Simon Upton to join us on Sydney’s South Coast with Hayden Cox and Haydenshapes team riders Craig Anderson and Creed McTaggart.
Having photographed creatures from the likes of Rosie Huntington Whitely, Cindy Crawford, Miranda Kerr, Kate Blanchett and Christie Turlington to name a few– not to mention a solid list of covers for the worlds top fashion publications, the genius lensman also shares our love for surf and the craft behind it. Here he captures Haydenshapes through a new and unique perspective.
