"Surfing is in-ocean Zen that so many coastal dwellers seek. Devotees to the sport often say that there are no thoughts beyond the current wave and staying on it, when you’re in the water.
Hayden Cox, founder of Haydenshapes and inventor of FutureFlex technology, has been surfing since he was 4. His mom taught him how in his native Australia. And he got his very first surfboard at age 5. It had leopard print rails.
At age 15, the board he was using at the time broke, and he wanted to figure out a way to craft a new one. Through a work apprenticeship, he eventually learned to shape boards and began his own board-shaping business while he was still a teen — selling the boards to classmates and to his teachers.
Thusly, Haydenshapes, Cox’s first venture, was born. As a board shaper, he was making two to three boards a week."
