As a personal side project, Hayden was recently invited to be part of a car customisation assignment with EA and Zen Garage for the launch of the new Need for Speed game. The brief? Stripping back and customising a car based on new design features similar to those available in the game. When it comes to customisation, there is an interesting crossover between cars and surfboards and the levels that can be pushed from aesthetics to performance. Naturally, this concept was very interesting to us not only because Hayden grew up playing the iconic game, but also with the pending launch of HSSTUDiO - our very own custom surfboard design software launching later this month. Stepping outside our lane for inspiration and ideas is something we enjoy a lot. Hayden's role in the project was to design a unique body kit feature, a one of a kind set of canards. Drawing inspiration from the hydrodynamics and aesthetics of fins on a surfboard, the canards were created using materials Hayden knows all too well - carbon fibre and glass fibre, finished with his signature black and white FutureFlex inspired look and feel.
